Once in awhile I receive an e-mail that absolutely warms my heart. This one was so special that I asked (and received) permission from Brigette to share it publicly. Read below:

Hello Lois,

I found your book New Years Eve 2007 at the Barnes and Noble store in NYC. I bought about 10-15 medical reference books and the one with the “funky” title: Sex, Lies and Cosmetic Surgery. So here I sit today in front of the computer day 4 post surgery (full face) and whenever I am in doubt I consult your book and not the others. Thank you Lois, you helped me and my hubby whenever we freaked out about a reaction or a feeling, through your descriptions and your photos. And yes you’re right, it is not a walk in the park. I found your words in the book but only now I know what you mean.

Oh thank you Lois for your kind response . . . I showed my copy (of your book) to my surgeon and he recommends it to his English speaking patients. In June I will see Gayle (she works with Oprah) an old friend of mine and will tell her about your book and that every single women going trough a facelift has to read it and own it. . . . . And who knows maybe our paths will cross sometimes (I spend about 4-5 months in the US mostly NYC, LA and the South West.The rest of the year I live in Switzerland, close to Zurich and work as a private banker. I was born in 1960.)

The Internet Can Help Bring Fame to Anyone

Remember last month I suggested that if you are not yet a world famous writer, you should take advantage of some of the e-zines out there to get your work noticed? There are two big advantages of the Internet: You reach many others with your words, and it's absolutely FREE.

Amazon.com - In the News Again

Amazon.com has been much in the news of late, but the news has hardly been complimentary! If you haven't read about their latest strategies to control the market, click here to read Jerry Simmons's article.
On a personal note, I have watched Amazon play with their price on Sex, Lies and Cosmetic Surgery, so that it fluctuates wildly from week to week. When I called to question why, I was told that this was an internal decision which they would not explain. Not so with the cosmetic surgery books published by major publishing houses, which Amazon consistently offered at their typically low, highly discounted prices. I watched rather helplessly as my book, whose sales rank had been pretty much beating out the competition, (mostly books written by plastic surgeons), do a nose dive. Within the past two weeks, Amazon has lowered the price on Sex, Lies and Cosmetic Surgery once again, and BINGO, my sales rank numbers are moving back into a far better range. Now I wonder aloud: Is Amazon such a giant monopoly that they can single handedly manipulate the market?     Off the Beaten Path - Featured Author Dahris Clair

    Dahris is an woman whose unselfish dedication epitomizes the very spirit of the words, "Authors Helping Authors". She is the creator and driving force behind the wonderful e-zine, The Infinite Writer, noted above, as well as the author of The House on Slocum Road, a book I recently completed and am so glad I took the time to read it.
